ScrapVenture Changes Hands—and Direction

Published by tdomf_44c49 under Uncategorized

(GRANITE CITY, IL) ScrapVenture, a family of authority websites specializing in scrapbooking as a business, has been purchased by Dawn Stegall and is changing direction to focus on online business owners.

“I have been a fan and customer of ScrapVenture since its beginning,” said Stegall. “When I saw the sites were being sold, I knew this was a project that played to my skills. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 20 years, with nine years specifically in the scrapbooking industry. I immediately saw new and exciting directions the sites could take.”

Founded in 2007 by Vera Raposa, ScrapVenture taught scrapbookers how to profit from their scrapbooking passion. The family of websites acted as a business center, providing articles, reports and e-courses to scrapbook business owners.

‚ÄúI wanted to show women how to follow their passion and make an income that would help support their family,” said Raposa.

Originally the site cast a broad net—offering resources for online stores, brick and mortar store, kit clubs, scrapbook forums and custom scrapbook artists.

“The end goal is exactly the same,” notes Stegall. “We help women make a career out of their hobby. The change in direction is additional resources for the online entrepreneur specifically. We are increasing the frequency of content, information and one-on-one attention, with an emphasis on online marketing.”

The trio of authority websites includes Scrap Venture Reports which offers detailed, industry specific reports; Scrap Venture Coaching, a virtual one-on-one coaching option; and the flagship product, Scrap Venture Pro which is a complete, year-long resource for the scrapbook business owner. All three product lines are being strengthened and supplemented with new content, data and research.

“The online scrapbook business owner now has a place to gain hands-on knowledge, individualized coaching and valuable research in order to assist them in their business venture,” said Stegall. “Look for even more dynamic information products, reports and insight into the online scrapbooking business.”

Unique Clothing Resale Business to Benefit Schools & Families

Published by tdomf_44c49 under Uncategorized

Haverhill, MA September 26, 2008 — HandMeDown Fundraiser provides low cost clothing for families with growing children through a fundraising system which also benefits local schools, daycares and organizations throughout the Haverhill community.

HandMeDown Fundraiser is a gently used clothing shop, which operates through an online web store featuring clothing in a large variety of sizes and styles. By operating an online storefront, HandMeDown Fundraiser is able to keep costs low, provide even more savings to customers and share low cost merchandise with families all over the globe. To provide the best quality for online customers, all items are photographed and described in detail through online listings. Prices are kept as low as possible, with most clothing ranging from $1.49 – $4.99 and combined shipping is provided to help families stock everyone’s closet.

Founder of HandMeDown Fundraiser, Bethany Tavernakis said “Because children outgrow clothing so quickly, most of the items we sell are in excellent condition. As parents, we know how expensive shopping for growing children can be, and it is an expense that keeps coming back as quickly as our children grow.”

Participating schools, daycares or organizations will be provided with flyers containing information on drop sites and donation options to be handed out. HandMeDown Fundraiser will visit the donation collection sites at specified times to pick up the donated clothing – additional trips will be made if necessary. Once the first donations have been received items will be sorted, inventoried, photographed and then listed for sale on the online store. Once items have been sold, they will be packaged and shipped to the buyers. As items are sold, they are recorded into HandMeDown’s system and a check for 40% of the profits will be delivered to the school, daycare or organization on a specified date.

“Although our business is based online, we do offer several unique options for families in the Haverhill area,” said Mrs. Tavernakis. “We are currently offering a unique program to help parents ‘trade up’ their child’s out grown clothing for larger sizes and we are working in partnership with Mikkie’s Variety in downtown Haverhill where a convenient ‘drop box’ has been placed.”

Founded by Bethany Tavernakis, a former teacher and mother of two growing children, HandMeDown Fundraiser works diligently to keep the fundraising process as simple for fellow teachers and administrators as possible. HandMeDown Fundraiser provides everything necessary to assist schools, daycares and organizations in collecting as much clothing and money as possible without having to do the work.

WAHM Articles challenges small business owners to jumpstart their holiday marketing this year.

Published by Denise under Uncategorized

Uncertain economic times mean small business owners need to work even harder to earn holiday shopping dollars. WAHM Articles, a popular article directory for women and an active writing community, is helping small business owners expand their reach by giving prizes for writing articles targeted at mothers.

Owner Denise Willms, a Virtual Assistant who helps her clients reap the benefits of article marketing, launched the Holiday Article Marketing Challenge early this month. Home and small business owners can win one of nearly $300 in prizes by writing articles to promote their products for the holiday season. Prizes include advertising space, Tupperware products, ghostwriting services, and personalized article coaching sessions with Willms.

“I’ve been thrilled with the response,” says Willms. “It’s great to see online business owners discover how to write articles that increase their visibility and increase their sales.”

Article writers gain exposure for their businesses by creating articles that solve their readers’ problems, and including a link to their website at the end of the article. The author’s resource box invites the reader to visit the writer’s website for more information.

To date, WAHM Articles has published nearly 2000 articles by 500 authors, each written with mothers in mind. Article topics range from parenting to relationships and from crafting to business issues.

Willms took inspiration for this challenge from the 30 Day Article Challenge, created by Carrie Lauth of CarrieLauth.com. In the 30-day challenge, participants put their endurance to the test to write 30 articles in 30 days.

Lauth says, “Article marketing has proven to be a consistently effective traffic generation method for me. I launched this challenge to give myself some public accountability but also to motivate others – it’s not as hard as you think to write articles, especially since all of us internet marketers are already writing so much for our blogs, sites, etc.” Others are invited to join the ongoing challenge at any time.

For those who don’t know how to promote their business by writing articles, WAHM Articles offers a free forum, where members can ask questions, and get answers from article marketing professionals, experienced article writers and article publishers.

Writing and submitting articles is an effective tool to gain targeted traffic and increase conversions. Michelle Shaeffer, The Small Business Muse‚Ñ¢, recently conducted an experiment to track conversions from writing and submitting articles. She found the traffic she received from her articles came with more average page views per visit and a higher subscription rate to her newsletter. About 40% of Shaeffer’s visitors who read one of her articles and clicked through to her website signed up for her newsletter.
